Fortune of Mine إن حظى /’inna Hadhdhii/

Fortune of Mine إن حظى /’inna Hadhdhii/

The following is my own English translation of the abovementioned famous Arabic poem “Fortune of Mine” Hadhdhii… إن حظي” ” by Idriis Gimaa’, a famous Sudanese Arabic poet

Fortune of Mine

Fortune of mine

Is like ashes,

That has been strewn

Over lots of thorns,

And it has been said,

To bare-footed men,

In a very windy day

To collect it.

So difficult was it to them;

“O, men leave it alone,” said I.

The One who has been predestined

With misfortune by God/Allah,

How happy can you make him.
